Sorry for the long delay in updating you all. AlhamduliAllah Sr. Nour had her surgery. She continues to heal from her surgery. It is still early to tell whether the surgery was 100% successful or not, as Nour is still healing and receiving follow up dental procedures. As always, please continue to keep her in your duaas. —————————————————————————————-

To many of you she is an unknown Muslimah in need.

To us she is a dear sister, loving wife and friend, community support and much more mashaAllah. Allah enabled us to cross paths while I was still an undergraduate in 2005. At that time, she had just become Muslim (alhamduliAllah), and was about to get married mashaAllah. The sister was ill and struggling with the consequences of a 2002 surgery that had gone wrong.

In the surgery a bone had been removed from one side of her face and her upper jaw became twisted to one side. As a result, her spine had twisted and became imbalanced with her head. Due to this imbalance in her structure, she is ridden with dizzying headaches every time she moves and is left feeling like she has been whip-lashed. She was subsequently diagnosed with Temporo-mandibular Joint Disorder, (TMJ).

All the muscles in her body are in severe pain.

The core muscles throughout her body have to overcompensate in an attempt at stabilizing her body. As a result, they are constantly stressed out and never get to relax, so they are always severely inflamed, sore and burning. Because of this any, sort of activity is painful for her. She can go out for short periods of time, but at a great cost: she is in tremendous pain and the pain prevents her from getting proper sleep for days at a time, which exacerbates her pain even more and also prevents her from being able to think clearly.

9 trying years for our dear sister….

For the past 9 years, she has undergone multiple surgeries and none of them have resolved the underlying issues. The most recent surgery was in March 2011. Although it brought slight relief to her pain, it did not relieve her of pain completely. This surgery also created a couple of new issues: it’s caused the airway to become restricted so it’s half the size of a normal airway causing her to be out of breath with very little activity. The jaw position is also misaligned so that the jaw only meets in one place and the teeth do not come together, so it’s impossible to bite down on or chew food properly.

Patience and gratitude…

~*~ Our patient sister in Islam~*~ ‘Bent, But Not Broken’

Even with all of the trials of the past 9 years, our sister has more faith than most people I’ve met in my life.  In times of immense pain, she will be reminding those around her of the benefit of such trials and their impact on the cleansing of the soul. She is always saying alhamduliAllah, and has maintained a cheerful, upbeat disposition in light of her situation.  Knowing her for all these years has had a profound impact on my faith, and I imagine the same to be true for the rest of her friends. The plan……After all this time, Allah has blessed our sister with a specialist in California, who understands her problem and can resolve the issues. However, the surgery is expected to cost $80,000 + traveling, lodging, and other expenses.

How YOU can help…..We are requesting that you open your hearts and assist us in raising the money for Nour’s  surgery.  Remember, helping someone else may be of greater help to you then them.</

  6. Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatoh,

    To Sister Nour:
I know you understand Qadr of Allah, Nour, and I so admire your strength and perseverence through this test. I am not in fear for your Iman, but it pains me to see you suffer this pain and be so restricted in your life at this time.

May Allah make this trial the door to unimaginable benefit, may Allah make this illness the catalyst to your family’s shahadah, and may Allah increase you and your husband with the best of children when the ease comes, ameen, ameen, ameen.

    To others:
I met Sister Nour when I was appealing to the community to donate money for a convert brother in isolation in prison. I was collecting money to offer for bail as a surety in his bail hearing.

Sister Nour came to my home and lent me her medical savings, about $1,500.00, to put toward his bail. She said she didn’t need it immediately, and would like to use it for this brother until the end of his trial (which would release the bond on the money).

She didn’t know this brother. She was trusting in Allah that he would not skip bail and loose all of her savings. Even though the lawyer didn’t accept the loan without the owner offering surety, and the Judge denied the bail, Nour’s intention and action was not affected by the outcome. It is as if she freed a prisoner of our Ummah from the suffering of imprisonment and isolation.

She hasn’t added Islamic behaviour into her life, she has completely immersed Islam into her heart and her mind and her soul, Masha’Allah.

May Allah inspire the Ummah to come to free her from this prison and isolation as she has so willingly done so for another convert, for another stranger, for another of our Ummah, ameen, ameen, ameen.

  7. May Allah make all that she endured an expiation for her inshaAllah and grant her the patience and perseverance to overcome this. And may He grant her a speedy recovery. Ameen.

  8. Asalaamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabaarakaatuh,

I ask Allah with His most perfect and beautiful names to give you Shifaa and to make all the pain that you are going through be a reason for you to get to Jannatul Firdaus with His rahma InshaAllah

  9. Assalamo Alaykom sister Nour

In shaa Allah you get the Shifaa from Allah Al Ali Al Atheem, only remember that suffering is for the people who Allah(subhanahoo wa taala) choses, it is the quality for the prophets and only the good people so it is like a test for them, in shaa Allah you past the test and get all the happiness and satisfaction from Allah, I ask Allah to grant you urgent Shifaa in shaa Allah, don’t forget us in your duaas

  10. Assalamu alaikum,

Ameen. Please my sister, be patient, for after times of difficulties, Allah swt gives us ease inshallah.
